Weft is a group-planning messaging application operated by Phil Cunliffe. It helps invited members coordinate events through text messages and personal browser rooms.

What is collected

Your name, mobile number, messages you exchange with Weft, event plans, invitations and replies, and preferences and contacts you choose to save. If you provide a general home area, such as your city or neighborhood, Weft stores it privately to help with planning; it is optional, and you do not need to provide an address.

Browser rooms use personal access credentials and operational records, including access expiry and message-processing status. Your browser keeps a room credential in per-tab session storage. Hosting and messaging providers also process technical data needed to deliver the service, such as IP addresses and delivery records. Weft does not load advertising trackers or third-party analytics in its site or chat pages.

How it is used

To run your group’s plans: ask who is available, coordinate invitations and RSVPs, open an event conversation, provide calendar links, remind you to answer, and remember what was decided. Messages and information you are permitted to see are processed by an AI model to compose replies and help with planning.

Private conversations and room history

A message sent privately to Weft is not relayed to the group. In a browser room, Talk privately opens a separate conversation with Weft; a leading @private also routes a message privately. Ordinary group messages and @weft questions and answers are visible to room members. New attendees can see the current plan, but not chat from before they joined.

Stored facts record their permitted audience. You can ask “what do you know about me?” to review information Weft holds about you and its visibility. The operator administers the service and may access stored data to support and maintain it.

Shared profiles

Qualifying first-person preferences you state in an event room—for example, dietary needs or activities you enjoy—may be copied automatically into your shared personal profile. Weft sends you a private notice when it adds them. Active members who share an open event with you, or have you in their own Weft contacts, may use that profile for planning, including future invitations. They do not gain access to the original conversation.

Ask Weft privately to show, correct, or remove your profile entries. Removing an entry stops its future use from your profile; it does not delete the original room message. Private messages are not automatically added to a shared profile. Your personal contact lists, tags, and optional home area stay private.

Sharing and service providers

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

Twilio carries text messages. Cloudflare provides the public HTTPS connection and routing. The current AI backend uses OpenAI through Codex to process authorized conversation context and generate replies. These providers process information needed to operate their part of the service; Weft does not sell your information.

When Weft searches public websites to help plan an outing, it uses minimal public search terms, such as a venue or activity. It is instructed not to include names, phone numbers, private messages, or unrelated personal details in searches.

Personal room links

A personal link authenticates you and can open your private conversation with Weft. Do not forward it. Links expire after 30 days and stop working when you opt out or leave the room, even if you later rejoin. Text CHAT for new links to your open rooms. Browser rooms refresh while open; they do not currently send browser push notifications.

Retention and deletion

Weft retains messages, facts, and operational records to provide the service. Text STOP to leave: your membership and room access end immediately, but STOP does not itself delete stored records. To request deletion of your stored messages and facts, contact phillip.cunliffe@gmail.com.
